I'm currently located in Montréal, completing my Master's Thesis!

Hi there! I’m Eric, a Master’s thesis student at McGill University and Mila. I’m currently working on trying to build better machine learning tools for understanding the progression of disease by utilizing multiomics data. Stay tuned for more updates in the blog, publications, and projects tabs 😁.

I studied Computer Science in my undergrad at the University of Waterloo, where I had lots of different co-op experiences doing software engineering from backend, embedded, compiler, graphics, and Machine Learning engineering. During my final co-op term, I worked on Large Language Models research, and fell in love with the creativity, constant learning, and ability to pursue something entirely novel. I decided to then pivot into research!

Notably, I found bioinformatics, specifically genomics and healthcare to be the particular niche I wanted to explore next. I hope that someday, I can guide biologists towards a better understanding of the hidden cell dynamics of disease.

Otherwise, I am currently training for a triathlon (half Ironman), a sub-20 minute 5km, and a marathon! I also enjoy learning languages, salsa dancing, and volleyball in my free time.
